Conviction or compromise?
Conviction or compromise?
I love this king! It is said of him, “Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.” (2 Kings 23:25) What a testimony!
How can we have a heart bent toward God like Josiah? It has been said, “You are as close to God as you choose to be.” James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…”
Each of us has been given a free will by our Creator, Owner. What will we do with it in this short life we have been given? Jesus said, “Without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
A heart bent toward God, like Josiah had, begins with a personal relationship with Him. That can only come about by trusting in Jesus Christ for the salvation of our souls! “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.” (Ephesians 1:13)
He is the One who took our sin punishment on the cross so that we could have His righteousness upon believing in him! “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18)
“I give you this short life of yours to do with as you choose, so then ‘til I come back again, this life is yours to use. Now go, but don’t forget when I return I’ll want to see, what a faithful Steward you have been in using it for Me!” -Author unknown
“And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15)
