A poor wise man
There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. (Ecclesiastes 9:14-16)
There was a great big world. Everything was perfect in it from the beginning! But there came a great enemy against it, and he deceived the humans, and they by yielding to his evil tactics became captives! (Genesis 1-3)
But there came a poor wise man, who by His own precious blood delivered (and does deliver!) the captives who trusted in Him, from the wrath of God the Father, against their sins, the man Christ Jesus! He was without sin, and therefore could be our Saviour! (John 3:16, 1 Peter 2:22)
“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” (Isaiah 53:3)
He has been forgotten days without number, yet His cry to those He has redeemed, is, “Remember Me!” (Jeremiah 2:32; 1 Corinthians 11:24,25) And to those who are still held captive by the enemy, “Come to Me, all of you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest!” Rest for your soul! (Matthew 11:28-30)
