Sorrowful, yet rejoicing!

Robert Lowry penned these words in 1868. Maybe this time of year brings some sadness into your life. While others may be gathering with family and friends, you find yourself alone. Perhaps, the debts are high, and the funds are low. Maybe you are battling poor health? I wonder what could make the apostle Paul say these words in 2 Corinthians 6:10, “…as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet, possessing all things.” It seems to me, that His eye was constantly on the God of HOPE, and in the knowledge of having Jesus Christ as His personal Saviour. The hardships of this life failed greatly in comparison! Can your heart say with Robert Lowry or the apostle Paul, “How can I keep from singing?” Inspite of whatever circumstances you might be going through? Jesus is a friend who will never leave you or forsake you. Let your heart rejoice in Him! 🙏🏻❤️

My life flows on in endless song;
   Above earth's lamentation,
  I hear the sweet, tho' far-off hymn
   That hails a new creation;
  Thro' all the tumult and the strife
   I hear the music ringing;
  It finds an echo in my soul—
   How can I keep from singing?

  What tho' my joys and comforts die?
   The Lord my Saviour liveth;
  What tho' the darkness gather round?
   Songs in the night he giveth.
  No storm can shake my inmost calm
   While to that refuge clinging;
  Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,
   How can I keep from singing?

  I lift my eyes; the cloud grows thin;
    I see the blue above it;
  And day by day this pathway smooths,
   Since first I learned to love it,
  The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
   A fountain ever springing;
  All things are mine since I am his—
    How can I keep from singing?
