In the shadow of the cross

Image
In the Shadow of the Cross A while ago I posted this message on FB,  https://youtu.be/atUGBua2AzE   In his message, “How great is our God,” Louis Giglio talks about, Laminin, which is a protein found in the extracellular matrix, the sheets of protein that form the substrate of all internal organs also called the basement membrane. It’s actually in the shape of a cross! He states, “That’s really what we want to know, and I’ll tell you how you can know today that God will always hold you. Colossians 1:17 reminds us, that he (Jesus) is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” While I was waiting for surgery, and the nurse was starting my IV, I looked up at the wall to my right. There was a horizontally hung fluorescent light on the wall, but just at the right moment, the sunlight cast a vertical shadow right in the middle making it look like a cross! It reminded me of Louie’s message about Laminin, the protein that holds our organs together in the shape of a cross...

Brokeness

Brokenness. This word came to mind as I was thinking about Jacob‘s encounter with God, (Genesis 32:24-32) and about Paul’s, “thorn in the flesh.” (2 Corinthians 12:7-10) Then I began to think about my own health concerns. A long awaited surgery that I was hoping not to have, but with Paul I can say, “Most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) There is something beautiful about coming to a place of utter dependence upon God. A place where you hear Him say, as He did to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) Jacob experienced that too as he limped away from his wrestling match with God. Is there something in your life you are wrestling with God about? Something you need to surrender to Him? Paul said, “When I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10) John the Baptist said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30)  What God has...

The law of the Lord

Psalms 119:130-“The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” Psalms 1:1, 2-“Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.” Psalms 19:7-“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.” Ezra 7:10-Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel. James 1:22-“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
