The fruit of the Spirit is kindness…

It’s amazing what happens when you step outside to go for a walk.

It was a Saturday morning. The weather was just perfect. I noticed some people setting up to celebrate for a birthday later on. There was a police officer who was enjoying a walk around the lake and said good-morning to my sister and I. A little while later, we noticed a very shy young man walking past us. He would not give any eye contact, but he bravely muttered a hello to us. I could tell that took a lot of courage. It really touched my heart. A little further up the path, were two young girls dressed in fancy dresses, holding a box of Tim bits, excited to celebrate a birthday party soon it seemed. They sweetly waved at us as they passed by.

The following day when I went to do home care for a sweet senior lady, she quickly took my hand, and led me down the hallway to her bedroom where she was going to get ready for the night. She told me how happy she was that I had come, and that she didn’t want to let me go. A sweet smile came across her face.

I think people really seem to appreciate each other more these days, especially after going through a pandemic, with long periods of isolation. God made us to love and interact with one another. He made us to enjoy fellowship with Himself and others. Never underestimate the smallest gesture of kindness. Whether it’s a simple hello, a wave, a moment of conversation, you never know who might need the encouragement. Let us be kind. “The fruit of the Spirit is kindness…” (Galatians 5:22)
