“Loose him, and let him go!”

Image
Now a certain  man  was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. It was  that  Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”  When Jesus heard  that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it. ” Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.  So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.  (John 11:1-5)  Two more days?! Why did he not come right away?! Have you been there friend? Or maybe you find yourself there right now. You are waiting in pain (physical or emotional) for an answer. Why the delay? Why the turmoil?  So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. (Vs.17) Hear the anguish in Martha’s voice,  “Lord, ...

A continual resort

Image
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may CONTINUALLY RESORT: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. (Vs. 1-3) My PRAISE shall CONTINUALLY be of Thee. (Vs.6)  I will HOPE CONTINUALLY, and yet praise Thee more and more. (Vs.14)  These words, taken from Psalm 71, remind me that I have a continual resort in the Lord, and can go to him in prayer at any hour of the day or night. I don’t have to wait for him to be available. He’s a constant. Thus will I praise Him more and more, and hope continually!  🙏🏻

Trusting in the trial

I’m going over the story of Joseph who was sold to the Midianites by his brothers who were jealous of him. Little did they know that he would one day become a great ruler in the land of Egypt 🇪🇬 and save them from starvation! Do your circumstances look bleak today? Faint not. The Lord may be preparing you for some great work! We know that all things work together for good to those who love Him!! (Romans 8:28) The following hymn written by William Cowper describes it well. God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform; He plants His footsteps in the sea And rides upon the storm. Deep in unfathomable mines Of never failing skill He treasures up His bright designs And works His sov’reign will. Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take; The clouds ye so much dread Are big with mercy and shall break In blessings on your head. Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, But trust Him for His grace; Behind a frowning providence He hides a smiling face. His purposes will ripen fast, Unfolding eve...

Holding on for the last 1/2 hour

Image
“Holding on for the last 1/2 hour...” Waiting on God for something? Moses was too. On a mountain top. Waiting to hear from God. Waiting in silence for six days! It wasn’t until day seven that God called out to him!  So Moses arose with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up to the mountain of God. And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Indeed, Aaron and Hur are with you. If any man has a difficulty, let him go to them.” Then Moses went up into the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain. Now the glory of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. (Exodus 24:13-16) Are we in too much of a hurry to wait in silence before God? Am I? “Search me oh God!” May we heed these words from Psalm 46 today, verse 10, “Be still, and know that I am God...” May that truth sink in. He is God! The Omnipotent (all powerful) one! The Omnipresent (everywhere pr...

Satisfied

Image
☕️ This morning after reading Psalm 63, I could not help but think of the following hymn written below by Clara T. Williams in 1875, yet so applicable to us today! All of us are born separated from friendship with God because of the disease of sin, we search for anything and everything to fill that void, that emptiness within, only to find ourselves disillusioned! Until, one day, it dawns upon us, that all the while, we were really looking for a Saviour, a Redeemer! “Thank-You Lord Jesus for saving my soul! I know that without God I’d NEVER be whole!” 🙏🏻 #SoGrateful!  All my life I had a longing For a drink from some clear spring, That I hoped would quench the burning Of the thirst I felt within. *Hallelujah! I have found Him Whom my soul so long has craved! Jesus satisfies my longings, Through His blood I now am saved. Feeding on the husks around me, Till my strength was almost gone, Longed my soul for something better, Only still to hunger on. Poor I was, and s...

My Shepherd

Image
This verse has been on my mind the last few days. How different I think our lives (as believers) would be if we remember that the Lord is MY Shepherd. He’s not just a Shepherd. He is a good Shepherd. A good Shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. A good Shepherd provides for his sheep. A good Shepherd doesn’t always give what the sheep wants. A good Shepherd knows what’s best. A good Shepherd knows his sheep intimately. Happy the sheep who trusts in Him. “Oh Father, help us as your children to lean hard on you, and find you as our all sufficient One! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning, new mercies I see! All I have needed, Thy hand has provided! Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!” Is the Lord your Shepherd? Are you His sheep?  In God’s green pastures feeding, by His cool waters lie; soft, in the evening walk my Lord and I. All the sheep of his pasture’s fair so wondrously fine, His sheep am I.  Water’s cool, pasture’s green, in the evening walk my Lord and ...
