The Sparrow

I read these words of Jesus this morning, "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." (Matthew 10:29-31)
A couple of years ago, while awaiting my next flight home from a Bible conference, the fear of flying was threatening to overcome me. While travelling overseas, I had experienced some fairly turbulent flights. As I was walking through the airport, looking for a place to sit, I noticed a sparrow hopping along beside me! How in the world did that tiny little sparrow get inside the airport in the middle of a freezing cold December?! I was truly comforted that I was indeed under the watchful eye of my Heavenly Father! How kind and good He is! The Comforter. The great, "I AM."
Friend, you are loved today, tomorrow, and forever by a Father who only desires the best for you! Fear not.
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home?
When Jesus is my portion, My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain:
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
