"One Another"
I was doing foot care for a senior lady this afternoon. She is 91 and still lives alone. She told me she has 4 friends who she faithfully calls every morning. They check in on each other. If one is in need, they help each other out. One of these friends is 94, and still lives alone, has a garden, drives, and picks my friend up 3 times a week for exercise classes. Hearing this made me think of the many times the Bible talks about, "One another." Here are a few of them. How much better our lives would be if we were more connected to each other, looking out for the needs of those around us. Would depression, anxiety, and loneliness be eradicated?
"...that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another." 1 Corinthians 12:25
"...through love serve one another." Galatians 5:13
"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2
"And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32
"...speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord..." Ephesians 5:19
"...submitting to one another in the fear of God." Ephesians 5:21
"And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you." 1 Thessalonians 3:12
"Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11
"Be hospitable to one another without grumbling." 1 Peter 4:9
